I received a trial of the new Barcode Suite directly from your tech person.
We are a provider of merchant credit card processing accounts, where quite a bit of paperwork is involved.
We have all come from competing companies and know of the troubles plaguing paper-file systems, especially when many people need simultaneous access to a file. I was not involved in the project, but my previous employer spent over $60,000 on an "imaging" system Individual images were not marked by type, date, etc.... Every image had to be identified and attached to a customer id after it had been scanned.
When a vendor of a Copier/Scanner mentioned that they could optionally scan to single or multi-page TIFFs, I immediately thought of ImageLib. Everything came together at that moment. We are already using SLQ2000 on a stable high-performance server -- Why not store the TIFFs in blob ("image" in SQL2000) fields?
I quickly began working with the ImageLib Corporate Suite and started thinking about how cool Barcode recognition would be to prevent the time-consuming and error-prone process of hand identifying documents. Low and Behold!!! -- Skyline offers Barcode Suite as well!
We have various pre-printed forms (applications, etc.) that our sales force completes in the field. We will be pre-printing each document with a barcode that identifies the document type -- e.g. all merchant applications will have the same short barcode on the first page. This barcoding will allow us to automatically classify the "type" of each document. For document types that we do not pre-print (for example, an applicant's bank statement), we will add to each page (or first page in a multi-page group) a small pre-printed sticker with the barcode representing that document type. Our industry uses 15 digit customer numbers known as "Merchant IDs". That merchant ID will be printed as a Code39 and attached to the first document in a merchant's group of documents -- or possibly on a cover sheet. Following a detected 15 digit number, my system will classify everything with the same Merchant ID until a new 15 digit Merchant ID is detected or a trailer document is found.
Please excuse me for rambling, but I'm pretty excited about using your products. My CEO sees me as saving the company $50,000 to $100,000 and delivering a MUCH better solution.
Do you realize how much money most companies spend on document imaging? I have a friend who works for XXXXXXX. He just sold an imaging solution to one of Sterling's largest competitors. I know he made about $200,000 dollars in commission. The sale must have been close to a million dollars.
At our Company, we are spending $3,000 in Skyline software, a little internal development, and we are in business! I suspect we have a better imaging solution than most. And NO ROYALTIES!!!
I don't think many companies realize just how much efficiency they can gain when using your tools properly.
